HVAC Maintenance Tips Offered By Stuart FL Air Conditioning & Heating Service

By Tyrone Sojka

If your home is hot in summer or cold in winter, your Stuart air conditioning & heating service is the right place to call. However, there are some simple things you can do to avoid a service call in the middle of the night. Here are a few helpful tips for maintaining your HVAC system and avoiding common problems.

Many people forget to change their air filters at least once per month. When this happens, the filter gets dirty and clogged. This can make the cooling system less efficient and your AC unit has to work much harder, raising your electric bill in the process. To make sure you do not forget, write it down on the calendar each month or set up an email reminder.

If your outdoor condenser coils are dirty, your HVAC unit cannot properly function. Keep these coils clean in summer and if you have a heat pump, they must be cleaned in winter also. It only takes a garden hose and a few minutes time.

When you clean the outside coils of your HVAC unit, be very careful. Never use steel bristle brushes and do not set your garden hose nozzle on hard spray. These aluminum coils are soft and easy to flatten or smash. If too many become smashed it can decrease the efficiency of your unit, costing you money.

In Florida, you might occasionally get large insects or small reptiles inside of the unit. They should be removed as soon as possible if you do not want bad odors around the unit. Before removing anything, always turn off the power to your unit by tripping the breaker or removing the outdoor disconnect.

When you keep an HVAC system clean and in good condition, you will get much better service and efficiency. Your Stuart air conditioning & heating service offers seasonal inspections and cleanings. They do not cost much and can prevent many kinds of problems.
