Guidelines For Easy Tennis Court Maintenance

By Rosie Stafford

Sport surfaces made out of acrylic are very durable and are easy to maintain. Only a little cleaning can go a long way in ensuring that the surface stays in good condition. The following are some of the simple tips for tennis court maintenance that will help to save a lot of money and extent the period of time between resurfacing cycles.

The owners can make sure that the grounds are in good condition by keeping them as clean as possible all the time. They should always be checked out molds and mildew especially in the areas where they tend to form regularly such as the areas with shades and also the corners. If the court is inside then both wet cleaning and vacuum cleaning should be used. The equipment used to clean up must be gentle and soft so as not to damage the grounds.

Acrylic surfaces tend to support the growth of fungal organisms that is encouraged by dropping of substances that may support their growth on the floor. To remove this fungus, molds or other organisms the following procedure can be used. Clean the facility with two parts household bleach and one part water using a brush with soft bristles and later rinse with a lot of clean water.

Stagnant water as a result of rain should never be allowed to settle on the playing ground for it to be long-lasting. This water can encourage the formation of stains and also debris. Any irrigation systems around the playing grounds ought to be made in a way that they do not pour water on the court.

Any foreign things should always be collected from surface as often as it is possible. These materials are things like needles and leaves. They ought to be removed because they can act as breeding places for molds and may also lead to the formation of debris. Good quality cleaning equipment should be used to clean the surface all the time to avoid damage.

When playing on the surface, it is advisable that they use the non-marking shoes and also no bikes or rollers ought to be allowed in unless the surface is made of the skate master surfacing system. People should not be allowed to throw chewing gums, foods and drinks inside the court. Chairs and benches must be lifted and not dragged on surface when being moved from one place to another. The chairs should also be manufactured with underground pads to avoid damaging the surface.

Tennis facilities should be manufactured with adequate drainage facilities. Excess water should not be allowed to flow back into the system because this can cause problems. Proper drainage systems should be installed and they should also be checked out on a regular basis.

After a specific period of time, the area should always be refurbished so that there are always no damages almost all the time. Resurfacing should also be done always to repair the low spots and cracks. These damages may be as a result of inadequate construction methods. The person working on the grounds should always be a professional.
