Basic Guide To Home Painting Bend OR

By Nora Jennings

The field of painting covers two areas of activity: coating, surface treatment, including the pretreatment of surfaces and applying toppings (wallpapering, wall, ceiling and floor coverings, film coatings, etc.). Home painting Bend OR involves the application of primer, paint and varnish layers for protection and redecoration. The scope refers to plaster, stone, wood, concrete, metal and plastic surfaces.

A painter is the person responsible for the application of paint on a building. It covers the walls and ceilings, they master the art of finishing and refurbishing homes. The workman must recognize and know how to prepare any type of surface such as concrete, plaster, wood, brick, metal to get the required finish. The various preparations will result in clean, sound and smooth flat surface ready to receive paint.

The painters are often the last to work on a construction site, as one person or in teams depending on the amount of work to be performed. After refurbishment, the place becomes clean and habitable. This depends on the quality of workmanship. In a training center, apprentices can obtain the CAP and BP. The certificate of BP is available in two years after a CAP. It allows apprentices to quickly enter the workforce and deepen knowledge in decorative products such as patinas, glaze, faux wood, faux marble, etc.

Many different kinds of rollers exist: foam, wool, short hair, long hair, among others. The choice depends on the finish and the surface. To paint the doors, windows, baseboards and other difficult to access surfaces, the rabbit's foot (long handle surmounted on a small roll) is widely used. In general, these rollers cover large or small areas, while extending regular and uniform paint.

It can also result in a professional re-orientation to a training course in an AFPA center. In 1989, this course lasted about 8 months (39 hrs/week ), and in addition to painting, included coverage of other construction related trades such as glazing . The diploma is an equivalent of CAP painter, it is quite appreciated by artisans and companies. It is a dual training, which takes place mainly in companies (learning master) which are approved by the competent authorities.

Today, it is possible for new examination regulations in coating and decorating crafts to take the journeyman examination directly after completion of final examination. It is to be expected that most journeymen cannot finance their studies immediately after obtaining the journeyman certificate.

However, a financing option is available through student aid. The costs for the mostly state schools are moderate. Private schools are more expensive but they are also the oldest. Studying at a preparatory school is not compulsory but is recommended because the test involves four fields. Regional painters and finishers are also trained with the additional test as a painter and decorator.

Apprentices who complete their training successfully are awarded a CFC (Certificate of Competence). These courses are modular for obtaining various titles namely, a certificate of team leader, a patent foreman and a degree of master painter. Module team leader and foreman are essentially based on practice with some lectures. Module mastery based on the theory and professional conduct.
