Effective Techniques For Planning A Wedding

By Carla Rossouw

Have you decided when you want to get married yet? Torn between roses and daffodils? There are so many things to consider and decisions to be made when you are planning a wedding. Whether you're the wedding planner, or getting married yourself, the tips within this article will be a huge help to you as you prepare.

Consider placing your colorful cake on a piece of fabric or tablecloth in a coordinating color. A pretty tablecloth made of textured fabric, velvet, shiny satin or a lace that matches the wedding dress are all nice choices.

No matter what type of reception you want, keep your caterer informed; for example, if you want an outdoor reception, help your caterer understand that. Some foods will not keep well in the heat or might be too light to stay in dishes if the wind is blowing strongly. A pretty cover is recommended for foods at outdoor weddings, to keep them fresh and free of debris or bugs. Regardless, make sure you have access to a fridge or a large amount of ice for cooling drinks.

One affordable alternative to elaborate floral arrangements is placing multiple potted plants of varying sizes throughout the ceremony and reception sites. You can purchase colorful pots or decorate plain pots yourself. When the wedding is over, the newlyweds can either plant the potted plants in their yard, or the guest can take them home.

Perhaps enlist the help of a friend to help you to carry all your camera gear around. Your assistant can help you round up the family members for the group pictures to make things run even smoother.

When wedding planning, think about what alcohol you want to serve, how you want to serve it, and try to be cost efficient. Just letting people drink all they want can really add up, especially if the reception lasts a long time. Inquire at your venue what your alcoholic beverage serving options are.

If you are the bride, your mother and your bridesmaids who plan on helping you get your gown on should be ready themselves well in advance, so they have time to assist you. You should be the focus, during the last minutes before the ceremony. If they are worried about getting themselves ready, they're not focused on assisting you.

When you start planning your wedding, begin by making a list of the things you want in order of importance. Flowers are usually one of the most important parts of a wedding, and the cake and venue are usually up near the top, too. By having a plan of what is most important to you, you can set aside funding for each item and ensure you get the wedding of your dreams.

Flowers are great, but don't place too many of them on your tables or they can become tacky. Frequently, these flowers are a nuisance to your guests, since they get in the way. There are some guests that have allergies to flowers, as well. Unscented candles can get placed around the tables for an atmosphere of romance.

Don't feel your engagement ring has to be the typical diamond solitaire just because that is what the commercials all advertise. Try using a family jewelry that has been passed down through the years. Using a sentimental piece of jewelry like this, will truly welcome your significant other into the family. And they will have something antique and cherished that will have special emotions attached to it.

If the future newlyweds enjoy traveling, display decorations that portray a sense of wanderlust. You can make invitations and save-the-date cards to resemble vintage postcard or boarding pass. Distinctive props can be used to hold items for the wedding guests to see.

Choose group activities to fill your special day with fun. Don't just let everyone stand around tapping their feet, waiting for something to happen. Include a variety of activities, like contests, photobooths, karaoke or miniature golf. Your guests will have fonder memories of your special day if it is an event filled with fun and entertaining interactive activities.

While it may seem obvious, remember that who you plan to marry should be the biggest consideration of all! You should never rush into a marriage just because others are pushing your or because you are caught up in wedding planning. You should consider the things you enjoy in your companion, as well as the things that irritate you.

Know what type of weather is being called for on your wedding day. Guests will not appreciate a hot and sticky outdoor wedding and most likely won't want to stick around to socialize and celebrate with you. On the other hand, if it is too cold, your guests may exit early. Always keep the comfort of the guests in mind, even though the wedding day is for the groom and bride.

After reading these tips, it's safe to say that you probably weren't aware of even half of these ideas. And that's because no one ever realizes just how much goes into planning a wedding until they're actually staring at it in the face. A wedding is perhaps the most detail-oriented celebration out there, so be sure that you're using these tips to help you out.
