Understanding What Bridal Photography Is All About

By Roseanne Blossoms

Bridal photography is one of the most beautiful presents a bride can get on her wedding. It is a very special moment for brides to finally march down the isle, and she ought to feel like a shining star on her wedding. It would seem like just a regular day for most photographers, but it's the opposite for most brides. It's part of the photographer's job consequently to make the bride feel extraordinary too on her big event.

If you are a photographer who is trying to dip your toes into bridal photography, then you can get a headstart by shooting the wedding in reportage approach, also known as a photojournalistic approach. It is a great way of capturing proceedings as they unravel, giving you an opportunity to capture unexpected momentary charms too where the bride's character shines.

One way of satisfying the bride is delivering very tasteful Wedding photography for the big event. It's your job as a Wedding Photographer, of course, to capture the greatest moments of not just the bride and groom, but also of the guests during the wedding. This will definitely make the bride happy, since she has had a lot on her plate before the actual wedding proper.

The bride's pre-wedding preparation is also a great time to seize the bride's photo. You may ask the bride's permission if you could be allowed to record her preparation for the wedding, such as when she is getting her hair and makeup done or when she's having her gown zipped up. You may be asked to leave the area during these times though, so be prepared for it. It is also helpful to make sure that you have taken the photos of the wedding dress, shoes, and tiara before she places them on.

While ISO 400 is generally accepted for exposure, be sure to tweak the camera's ISO settings to ISO 250 when taking pictures of the bride inside during her preparation. For shots outdoors, lower the ISO to 100 to avoid overexposing the photos, then make it 800 for interior church shots.
