Could Collection Services Come Into Jane Foster's Possession?

By Rob Sutter

It's hard to imagine that I am not as big of a fan of the people of Asgard from "Thor" as I am of those from Earth. In particular, Jane Foster has shown that females in superhero movies can be very strong as well as heroes in their own right. To say the least, I was surprised with the film and I thought that the characters had kept me glued to the screen throughout each of the events. Is it possible, though, that Foster can find collection services coming into her possession?

I cannot dispute the fact that Jane Foster is a character that is acted out very well. Natalie Portman is not someone who I can call a favorite actress of mine but to her credit, she was able to portray Foster quite nicely. She possessed the same level of drive that I would expect from a female hero of sorts and it's hard for me to think about anyone else taking up the role, in hindsight. What I saw as a role I didn't think much of before became one that I was impressed by.

In any movie of this nature, though, you have to believe Foster had to approach one obstacle after another. S.H.I.E.L.D., for instance, is the group that she found herself running into a couple of times. However, I think that the fact that the group confiscated her belongings made her all the more driven to go about her goals. She didn't want to simply let this level of power to render her unsuccessful in her efforts and I think that this kind of mindset should be seen in more "damsels" in superhero films.

It's apparent that Foster's character is one to focus on, whether or not collection services come into play or not. If an agency along the lines of Rapid Recovery was hired on, though, I would like to imagine that it would have been easier for her to go up to S.H.I.E.L.D. This would be especially true after Thor proved that he was who he claimed to be: a crown prince. This is a world where justice is dealt by superheroes, though, so I think that forgiveness is an element that will be most prevalent.

As you can tell, "Thor" was a fun movie from me and it wouldn't have been nearly as effective if the characters weren't likable. I thought that the cast did an excellent job and I am all for watching the sequel once it hits theaters as well. In terms of specific characters that surprised me, though, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster seemed to seal the deal. It was a performance that I was not expecting much out of but I wound up receiving quite a bit by the end credits.
