Advice On Gift Wrapping Christmas Gifts

By Alaric Sowerby

Presents to me become more meaningful anytime the giver invested some time to personally wrap it. It lets me know that the giver of the present not only remembered to put aside something for me but that he or she devoted effort and energy to carefully wrap it. A nicely wrapped present is the result of an individual giving not only a gift but his creativity and vitality. All the effort makes one truly feel appreciated and extraordinary. Sometimes it even feels as though the presentation is a lot more important than the gift.

This Holiday season let us make our gifts touch the hearts of our family and friends through the work we place in gift wrapping them. One method that some people use to wrap gifts is to use homemade paper. By making use of brown package paper, some multi-colored ribbons, twine and or objects from nature like shells you can create a fairly easy but sophisticated Christmas gift wrapper. Wrap the gift as you normally would. Finally, work with colorful ribbons or attach ornamental decorations like holly sprigs by utilizing a thin wire.

Another innovative way to add interest to your presents is to use two differently designed gift wrappers to cover it. You can cover half the present with one particular design and the other half using a complementary pattern. Another way of using two(2) distinct designs is to first cover your gift with a single solid colored paper. Then cut wide pieces from the other gift wrapper and tape it to create a pattern.

Using ribbons could also make your gift shine and get noticed. Creating big bows are easy, start by tying a regular ribbon. Tie another three(3) bows around the knot of the initial ribbon after that arrange the loops to face different directions to create an asterisk. If simpler styles are more to your liking then a simple ribbon on top of the present will be fine.

A more personal way of gift wrapping is by stamping the receiver's initials on plain paper or on a Christmas card fastened to the present. The gift will look like someone had it monogrammed. It's likewise very economical as you only need ink pads, alphabet rubberized stamps and brown parcel paper. If you prefer over the top designs then covering the entire top of the container with ribbons rather than just one is a sure bet. Use tiny Christmas tree bulbs and glue them to the box. Create a star pattern with the bulbs using glue. A bow may then be fastened to it. If the gift is not so big you can wrap them so they resemble a candy cane. Find a paper towel cylinder and put the items inside it. Cover the tubing in white tissue paper then wrap a red ribbon all-around it. Cap it off by covering the tube in Saran wrap.

Another method of wrapping presents is by using a gift bag or sack. It is quite simple as all you have to do is pick the appropriate design and size one wants and then simply put the gift inside.

Lastly if the gift is really large like a bike, a good concept is to hide the item then wrap up the directions or map of where to find the item. Once the gift box is opened a treasure hunt of sorts for the item will then begin.
