Benefits Of Using A Fertilizer And Lime Spreader

By Kathleen Cox

As the years have passed, technology has evolved. Manual labour has been needed less and less due to the new technology. This change is especially seen on the agricultural front. We have tractors, combined harvesters, sprinklers among other things. One of the types of machinery that have really helped out this sector is the fertilizer and lime spreader.

We all want our lawns or farms to look uniform. This can be achieved by ensuring the sprinklers give an equal amount of water to every part and by using fertilizer spreader. Machines, unlike human beings, can be programmed into delivering the same amount over and over. This goes a long way in avoiding bare patches in the ground or burned out roots and clumps.

They come in different sizes. This way, you have a chance at choosing what works best for you and what is within your budget. The size you pick will be totally dependent on the size of the land you plan to use it on. For small lawns, you may use a handheld propagator, a medium piece of land may work with drop spreaders while for the large lands, a broadcast spreader would be best.

The last thing you want is to have a bio-hazardous situation on your hands. This may come about when you are not well geared up while distributing the fertilizer. Often are times when most people will choose to improvise a propagator of their own. If the manure happens to come into contact with the skin of the person, it may lead to a few health complications.

We all have things to do and you cannot spend days spreading compost on the land. When it comes to the manual method, a lot of time will be lost trying to estimate the amount of compost that should be spread out to make the land even. With the machine, you only have to feed it the compost and set the rate and amount which you want.

The spreader is multipurpose. You may not only use it to fertilize the seeds but also use it to plant them. It would be the same, as you only have to set the number of seeds you want to be planted in each part of the land. You can also use it to spread salt in the icy sidewalks in the winter. This is really helpful as you no longer have to stand in the cold for longer periods.

The one thing we all want to do is to save money. Using the propagator gives you a chance at this. The machine does not over-do or under-do the spreading so the amount you buy should be enough. Doing it manually may cost you a lot of manure and if wrongfully done, the crops end up destroyed or the lawn unattractive.

These spreaders are also used by crop growers. They increase the chances of the yield improving as the manure was spread equally. This covers the vastly growing population and the drastic changes in the climate.
